Hospital Visit

We went to help out a hospital on Tuesday.  The hospital has been set up to help people that can't afford to pay to stay in hospital to get better.  But the hospital is also very poor and the conditions are bad.

The team got involved and helped out by cleaning, washing hair, giving out vitamins and protein shakes.


It was very sad to see all the sick people - especially because they don't get pain medication and they only get food if their family brings it to them.

But it was great to see the students and orphans from the ICC Light of Hope school working there to help others.  The students were studying at university and will one day use their education to help others.

It showed us that when we help people out of poverty and help them receive an education, they can break the cycle and help other people around them.

Unfortunately, electricity is a lot more dangerous than many other countries and people often get electrocuted.

It's Not OK

On Tuesday we visited She Rescue Home which offers a secure haven for young Cambodian girls who are at risk or who have been rescued from being trafficked.  Human trafficking is basically selling people (mostly girls) into slavery.  It is illegal, but the criminals do it so they can make lots of money.


When a problem seems so big, it is easy to get overwhelmed and give up.  But we were reminded...

In other words, don't give up because the problem is big... focus on the difference you can make in the life of one person.

She Rescue Home sells lots of beautiful products that go to support the great work that project does.

AIDS House

On Monday we visited a group of families and orphans that have been affected by AIDS.

The children and women that live in the AIDS house are excluded from the community.  The village neighbours don't understand that AIDS is transmitted through blood.  So they treat the people in the AIDS House like they are contagious. 

So the village children won't play with the children who have AIDS.  And the adults with AIDS can not get work which means they have been stuck in poverty.

But ICC has been helping the women to earn an income by making and selling doll angels.  This little business makes money so that those in the AIDS house can survive.

Washing Hair

How often do you get to wash your hair?
What if you got lice or nits in your hair... how long would you have to wait for a hair wash treatment so your scalp would stop itching?
For these children, they are lucky if they get their hair washed once a month.


They loved their hair being washed and it was a simple and fun way we could help the children.
